Up after a good sleep to find the two by twos out walking themselves or there dogs, so its into Mount Airey/Mayberry. Have a walk about town and find Andys Police Car doing tours, a quilt shop, Floyds Barber Shop and the cafe so we decide to have morning tea at the cafe which was packed and the famous prok chop sandwich. Yep their right when they said a pork chop sandwich. Full pork chop and coleslaw and chilies inside.
After Mayberry its onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and more beautiful scenery through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Stopped at Mayberry Mill which is an old Grist Mill and arguably one of the most photographed tourist scenes in the USA. Ever onward and I spot a critter on the side of the road the type of whcih I haven't seen before. i can only describe it as a fat ferret.
Talking to rangers later they said it was either a weasel or a minx, both of which are rare to be seen.
From there we descend off the mountain for an overnight stop at Salem, near Roanoke.
