Well, big day today.
As everything at Stone Mountain was closed down and the gates on the park close at midnight we decided we would book out of the park as we were going to the big game tonight and take our chances.
At about 6am the woman in the mobile home opposite decided she would surprise us this morning and went to the shop and bought a dozen glazed Krispy Cremes to have breakfast with us. Yum, glazed donuts and coffee at 6am.
We departed about 9am and drove to Turner Field to see what the parking was. I had been told that the grey lot was for RV at $50 for the night but you had to leave after the game.
We drove into a public car park near the front gate and one of the finest boys in blue was parked so I asked his advice. He told me to park the rig and it was free until 4.30pm at which time a gentleman would appear and probably charge me $10 dfor the night. With this in mind we parked and locked the rig, and caught a taxi to CNN where we bought a combined ticket for the CNN tour and the Atlanta Aquarium tour.
Both were great and the CNN tour took us up the longest free standing escalator in the world, (eight floors) and the tour had us walk through CNN eight floors down to our starting point.
The Aquarium was excellent with the exception of the the Balugia whales which I believe was apart from snow bears, one of the saddest things I have ever seen with regard to animals. Old mate just swam around and around from one end of their pool to the other.
Next on the list next door was the Coca Cola tour which involved a 3D interactive movie complete with moving seats and water spray effects and the poke in the back from the seat which scared the bejesus out of petal.
The tour culminated with unlimited access to 60 soda fountains of flavors of coke from all around the world and a free bottle to take home. Don,t know how the parents of the kids who drank over a gut and a half of the old coke controlled them when they got them home.
Anyway taxi back to the RV where we sat till about 4.30pm when the boss arrived and said that I would have to move the rig to another grassed section and I would have to pay $24 and he didn't care how long I stayed.
So rig stored off we go to the ball game. where we see examples of Tailgating and Cornholing.
Tailgating- A party youre allowed to have off the tailgate of your SUV in the carpark before the game. You light the barby and have a few beers while playing cornholing. Cornholing=Throwing small pillow shaped corn filled bags through a hole in an inclined board from a distance
Into the stadium and get free handouts of Braves T shirts and blow up hatchets. Into the souvenier shop and another Atlanta Braves shirt. Up and found our seats on the third tier under cover between the home base and first base.
Great seat and absolutely best night with the entertainment and the dog and beer. On top of that the Braves beat the LA Dodgers and a great fireworks display at the end.
Back to the rig and we decide that we would make our way out of the city. We were heading to Knoxville anyway so we headed the Luvshack north and I had been told that RV's can park overnight free of charge behind Cracker Barrel Country Stores as long as a purchase was made when the store opened.
No problem with that, as we are already frequent flying customers with them after discovering them for breakfast one day. Lib has a passion for hot-cakes with half a gallon of whipped cream on top. Myself I will have the eggs sunny side up, bacon, country sliced hame, hash browns with a side order of grits and biscuits with saw tooth gravy. That'll do.
We arrive at the Cracker Barrel about 12.30am about forty miles out of Alabama, just as the manager was leaving and after speaking to him he directs us to the RV parking, no problem see you in the morning for breakfast.
Thats it for now kids, great day had for all.
